“Now that Speaker Kevin McCarthy has taken control of the House after four days and 15 grueling votes had to be taken to put down a rebellion by Republican Party members, Donald Trump took to his Truth Social account to urge a similar takeover in the Senate.

McCarthy finally was handed the gavel after Trump interceded late last Friday night, and the former president has been taking a victory lap ever since.

Early Monday morning he once again applauded McCarthy for standing by him in a speech after after his slim victory early Saturday morning after a night filled with floor squabbles and GOP lawmakers swearing at each other and confusion over how to vote.”
